Ms. Dineen's Junior Infants joined with Mr. Purcell's First Class for some Science Week activities. Both experiments explored the force of air.
The first experiment was "Dancing Raisins". The children put raisins in a glass of 7up to see if the bubbles would make the raisins dance. We found that smaller raisins danced more than bigger ones and, the longer the raisins were left in the bubbles, the more they moved.
The second activity involved building a maze using playdoh or cubes. The children used the force of air to move a ping pong ball through the maze by blowing through a straw. This was great fun and the First class children worked so well with Junior Infants.
