Speed and Spirit: Olympian Phil Healy inspires pupils at Glór na Mara's Active Flag Celebration!"
Last Wednesday, November 27th, we were delighted to welcome Olympian Phil Healy to Glór na Mara!
Phil joined us to talk about her incredible journey to becoming one of Ireland’s top athletes and to officially present our school with the Active Flag, recognition of our commitment to promoting physical activity and healthy living for all.
Phil spoke to the entire school, sharing her inspiring story of hard work, determination, and resilience. She encouraged students to pursue their dreams and reminded them that perseverance is key to achieving their goals. Her words lit a spark of inspiration among a new generation of budding athletes.
Following the presentation, Phil spent an hour with students from 5th and 6th Class, diving deeper into the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle. She discussed key aspects of athletic success, such as:
- The role of nutrition in fueling the body and mind.
- How sleep is essential for recovery and performance.
- The joy and benefits of staying active and enjoying sport.
The session was highly interactive, with enthusiastic students asking plenty of thoughtful questions. Phil's candid and relatable responses gave the children invaluable insights into the life of a professional athlete.
We’re incredibly grateful to Phil Healy for taking the time to visit us and for inspiring our students with her passion and dedication. The day left everyone feeling motivated to stay active and chase their dreams. Congratulations to all at Glór na Mara for earning the Active Flag – a fantastic achievement for our schoo!
