Exciting Challenges Launched
Today’s assembly was packed with excitement as we launched a range of fantastic challenges to keep us active, healthy, and environmentally aware!
Our Healthy Lunch Committee and Active Flag Committee introduced some brilliant initiatives to help us make better food choices and stay on the move.
Here are the exciting challenges ahead:
Healthy Lunch Challenge – Encouraging us all to make nutritious choices for a healthier school day.
Spring into Spring – A fun way to get moving and embrace an active lifestyle. We are all going to move as the weather improves!
The Great Spud Challenge (led by 5th class) – We’ll be growing our own potatoes and learning about healthy food.
Skip Around Europe – A fun skipping challenge that will take us on a journey across Europe!
We were delighted to welcome Colman Power, an organic horticulturist, fitness instructor, and nutritionist, to officially launch the challenges. He gave us fantastic advice on staying active, eating well, and growing our own food—and he wasn’t long getting us all moving!
Even more exciting, Colman will be working with students over the next few months, helping us grow a variety of vegetables and learn more about healthy, sustainable food. He will also be judging The Great Spud Challenge, so all.our classes are getting ready to put our growing skills to the test!
A huge thank you to Healthy Waterford, who have generously funded this initiative, ensuring we can develop valuable skills in growing food and maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
We also received an update on our amazing progress in the Battery Recycling Challenge from 5th class—well done to everyone who has been bringing in their used batteries! Every effort makes a difference in helping the environment, so let’s keep up the great work.
We’re looking forward to taking on these challenges, helping us stay active, eat healthily, grow our own food, and make a positive impact on the environment!
