Healthy Waterford Gardening Project

Healthy Waterford Project – A Fantastic Start to Our Growing Season!

We are thrilled to announce that our application to participate in the Healthy Waterford Project was successful! Thanks to this initiative, we’ve had an early start to our growing season, and our school garden will soon be thriving.

Under the expert guidance of horticulturist Colman Power, our 4th & 5th class students have been busy preparing the raised beds after the long winter. They have planted onion sets, chard, beetroot, leeks, spinach and broad beans setting the stage for a bountiful harvest!

Colman’s enthusiasm and passion for gardening have been inspiring, making the experience both educational and enjoyable.

Over the next few weeks, our students will have the opportunity to get involved, learning hands-on skills and gaining a deeper appreciation for nature and healthy eating. Keep an eye out for our young gardeners in action!

We would love to see parents getting involved too. Colman is always happy to chat about all things gardening, so don’t be shy if you see us in the garden—come along, lend a hand, and help us make our school garden a thriving, community-led space!
