5th Class visit to the Local RNLI Station
5th class recently had the pleasure of visiting our local RNLI station accompanied by Ms. Phelan and Tara's dad, Ian Flynn, both members of the RNLI. This unique opportunity gave our students a fascinating inside view of the vital work carried out by the RNLI.
The children were thrilled to see the lifeboats up close and were eager to learn about the different equipment used in rescue operations. Ms. Phelan and Mr. Flynn did an outstanding job explaining the importance of the RNLI's work, detailing how they save lives at sea and provide essential support to those in need.
One of the highlights of the visit was getting a behind-the-scenes tour of the station. The children were amazed to learn how quickly the lifeboat crew must respond to an emergency call and how they prepare for various rescue scenarios. The students were particularly captivated by the demonstration of rescue techniques and the chance to try on the lifejackets and helmets
We feel incredibly fortunate to have had this experience, and we are immensely grateful to Ms. Phelan and Ian Flynn for making it possible. Their passion for the RNLI and commitment to sharing this knowledge with the children made this visit truly special.
Our visit to the RNLI station was an inspiring and eye-opening adventure that combined fun with invaluable learning. The students left with broadened horizons and an enthusiastic understanding of safety at sea, the importance community service and a newfound appreciation for the heroes of the sea.
Thank you again to Ms. Phelan, Ian Flynn, and the entire RNLI team for an unforgettable day!
