Music
Music has always been an integral part of our school. We offer a wide range of musical activities for children to experience, both during and after school.
Choir:
We are currently have two choirs in Glór na Mara. These choirs rehearse once a week after school.
The Gospel Choir, run by Mr. O'Mahoney and Mr. Purcell, have performed their energetic music at school events and in Holy Cross Church.
The School Choir, organised by Ms. Dineen, Ms. Mulligan and Mr. Gunning, have sung at local concerts, Tramore Christmas Carnival and other charity events. For the last number of years the School Choir have taken part in Peace Proms with the Cross Border Orchestra of Ireland. The children have performed in Dublin, Kilkenny and Waterford as part of the Peace Proms Choir.
School Musicals:
We have showcased some wonderful musicals in recent years, including Calamity Jane and Beauty & the Beast. Under the direction of Mrs. Breen and Mrs. Buckley, children from 5th and 6th Classes took to the stage with confidence and they performed to packed audiences!
Instruments:
Tin-whistle is introduced as part of the music curriculum from 1st class onwards. We also have a class set of African drums which are used regularly throughout the school. Guitar and keyboard lessons are also offered after school.
