Green School Flags
Glór na Mara has earned TEN Green Flags through the An Taisce Green Schools Programme for its environmental achievements in the following areas:
- Litter and Waste
- Energy
- Travel
- Water
- Biodiversity
- Global Citizenship, including:
- Marine Environment
- Food and Biodiversity
Sustainable Transport
- We promote awareness of air quality and discourage idling at school gates while advocating for safe driving speeds near the school.
- We actively encourage walking, scooting and cycling to school.
- 5th and 6th classes participate in the Safe Cycling Programme every year.
School Garden and Biodiversity
- We were awarded a School of Excellence Award for our school garden in 2017.
- We have a range of raised beds to grow vegetables and herbs and we plant additional trees every year in our grounds.
- We foster a love of nature, biodiversity, and environmental awareness. We participate in "The Heritage in School Scheme". A variery of experts visit the school throughout the year and carry out various workshops exploring our natural heritage. We love bringing classes outdoor to explore the natural environment.
Air Monitoring
- We participate in the Globe Air Monitoring Programme to campaign for clean air.
National Recognition
- Glór na Mara were National winners of the Our World Irish Aid Award in 2017 and 2019 for promoting the Global Goals for sustainable development.
- Our school were invited to present at the annual National Marine Environment Conference in Dublin in 2020
- Our school were invited to present at the ESD 5th National Forum in Dublin Castle in 2019.
Community and Global Engagement
- We have strong links with local community environmental groups such as Tramore Tidy Towns and Tramore Eco Group.
- We actively campaign for global sustainability.

- We are now part of the Primary Climate Ambassador Programme.
